Harvest Amount from One Hive

This truly us a tough question to answer, the quick answer would be that you should expect to harvest around 60 Lb of Honey from a single medium or deep super in a hive. This is about equivalent to a 5 gallon pail.

The reality is that the pounds you can and should be able harvest will fall somewhere between 10 – 100 Lb’s.

The factors involved in your harvest quantity are numerous and varied.

  • your super size (medium or deep super)
  • winter reserve amount left behind
  • your management technique
  • location of hive
  • weather conditions
  • nectar distance from hive
  • number of bees in the hive
  • health of your colony
  • robbing
